In our quest for original info on Militaria, info on them, backgound stories, I have found a specialized bookstore that offers as I checked a very wide variety of books that I think will help any collector to find resources on the items or the stories linked to items already existing in our collections.

Although a little irrelevant with the purpose of this blog, I would like to express my feelings on the following subject.
According to older treaties the island of Crete can claim its independence from Greece the year 2012.
It is a premature to foresee how Crete will be in a few years, yet it is my opinion that Crete must go after a semi independent, conferederate solution with Greece.
The nationality of the inhabitants is Greek yet the history and the previous historical events that took place on the island together with the indifference of the Greek political leaders to improve quality of life there, I think will move foreward the bargaining position of Crete towards Greece.
The old "Cretan State" government was undermined by Eleftherios Venizelos and as consequence Crete united temporarily with Greece.
In a free country everybody has a right to have a mind of his own so I think that the Greek authorities undermine the freedom of expression that exists in the European Union by arresting activists who proclaim their opinion towards the future independence of Crete.
If we want Greece to be a European country the government should remeber human rights from time to time...THEY ARE NOT RESPECTING THE GREEK CONSTITUTION!

COLLECTING HISTORY
Since boyhood history lessons were my favourite and strong field raising my GPA the easy way.
Gradually I understood that history as a carreer was not going to pay my bills (espacially the way I live..) so I turned myself unwillingly away from history and studied journalism and marketing in order to work and earn a living.
After years they all came back to me. I come from Crete an island that was the theater of fierce battles and heroic deeds.
As I was wandering the streets of Heraklion I entered a shop selling among others staff from the german paratroopers landed in Crete 21/5/1941.
It was the battle of Crete as it is called that arouse my history loving insticts and drove me to follow again my old passion for history.
I started to gather staff from my family which is taking part in battles since the middle ages.
I have created a very small collection that I am very proud of, especially since I do not have the luxury to spend huge ammounts of money in it.
I hope you will find my views and info interesting reading my blog. Your commnets are more than welcome!

ΕΝΑ ΧΡΗΣΙΜΟ ΒΙΒΛΙΟ
Αν και πολλοί από όσους συλλέγουν παλιά αντικείμενα θεωρούν τους εαυτούς τους αυθεντίες στον τομέα που τους ενδιαφέρει, είναι σκόπιμη η παραπομπή σε βιβλία, φωτό της εποχής, cates postals κλπ.
Ένα πολύ χρήσιμο βιβλίο σχετικά με Thirs Reich Militaria κυκλοφορεί στο www.amazon.com και είναι το Collector Guide to Third Reich Militaria του Robin Lumsden.
Πρόκειται για ένα πολύ καλό βιβλίο αναφοράς με οδηγό αναγνώρισης των πλαστών αντικειμένων. Καθώς και ένα ενδεικτικό οδηγό τιμών ο οποίος παρόλο που είναι λίγο ξεπερασμένος δίνει στον επίδοξο συλλέκτη μια ένδειξη τάξης μεγέθους και σπανιότητας του αντικειμένου.
Οι φωτό του θα μπορούσαν να είναι εγχρωμες αλλά η όλη ποιότητα του και κάλυψη του αντικειμένου που πραγματέυεται είναι τόσο πλήρης που ο αναγνώστης παραλείπει αυτή την έλλειψη.
Ακόμα και το σχήμα του είναι βολικό και μπορεί κανείς να το έχει μαζί του σε κάποια εξόρμηση για ανεύρεση και αγορά σχετικών αντικειμένων.
